Device installer error`

HI

I have a problem with all media devices on my PC. There
are all working fine, but when I try to add a device or
upgrade the drivers of an existing device I get the
following error message:
"Windows could not load installer for MEDIA. Contact your
hardware vendor for assistance."

Does anybody have any ideas on this, can't find anything
in knowledge base.
