Used Access 97 extensively but have been inactive for few years and trying
to catch up using Access 2002. What is current equivalent to Access 97
Developer Edition to create installation CD (& associated files) & also use
of ActiveX controls.

Hi, John.
What is current equivalent to Access 97
Developer Edition

The Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) 2005 with Access Developer
Extensions is the modern equivalent. Please see the following Web page for
more information:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/aa718673.aspx

However, the next version of the Access Developer Extensions (with the
Access 2007 Runtime) is going to be free.

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/office/bb229700.aspx

They're scheduled to be released around March 2007.

As I recall the latest version, just out does not have the developer's
kit available yet. I could be wrong. I am sure someone will have an
authoritative answer for you soon.

What Activex controls? If you can avoid them.

How do you get rid of troublesome ActiveX Controls/references?
