hey there i already sent out one post for a problem i have and this is the
second one in the stage. basically, my laptop would restart everytime i tried
to connect to dial up dodo internet. a blue screen would flash (apparently
the 'blue screen of death') and then the screen would go black and the laptop
would restart. i was instructed on how to stop the restart so that i could
read the whole message on the blue screen in order for the actual problem to
be determined. well, this it what it said:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error srceen, restart your
computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps.

Check to make sure any new hardware is properly installed. If this is a new
installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows
updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or
software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you
need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer,
press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

these weird codes and help me to resolve this problem. just so you know,
there is not an external modem, it is internal and no new software of
hardware has been installed unless you included a phone line for the
internet. however, it comes up with this error screen even with no telephone
line connected. please help me im worried about my laptop. thanks and hope to
hear from someone. regards freyja.

The ich.sys file is for your Sony modem driver, so there is a problem
with the driver or the physical hardware. Go to Sony's tech support
website for your specific model computer and install the latest modem
driver. If that solves the issue, great. If it doesn't solve the issue,
then call Sony tech support because the modem itself is damaged and you
can't fix laptop hardware yourself.
