While installing XP for a friend, it detected his brand
new (straight out of the box) AMD XP 2800+ as a 2200+
processor. What is the deal and how do you fix it?

Does his BIOS see it as a 2800+?

how do you tell?

When the machine boots up watch the screen, it should give the processor
speed. If it doesn't, then it might in the BIOS. If he's unsure, check the
jumper settings for the chip.

What PC/motherboard?

If the bios sees it correctly than its just a cosmetic thinggy.

He needs to set up his BIOS properly for the new CPU. Sounds like the
FSB is running at 133MHz when it should be at 166MHz.

It was a problem with the FSB setting. I really
appreciate the help guys.
