Detecting proxy settings

Recently, everytime I go into Internet Explorer, I get a white screen
and down in the corner it says detecting proxy settings. It takes a
good minute or so until I can get in the Internet. This is just a
recent thing and I don't know what could have caused it. Can anyone
tell me how to rectify it?

Go to IE tools, internet options, connections. Click on the settings button
for your connection and turn off the option to automatically detect
settings.
