Detach Attachment in Outlook 2007?

I thought I had heard that in Outlook 2007 there would be a native way to
"detach" an attachment from an email, without having to use a 3rd party
add-in. We have upgraded to Office 2007, and I can't find that functionality
in Outlook.

Does anyone know of a way to do this in Outllook 2007? If it is still not
possible without an add-in, can one of the MVPs tell me when/if this
functionality will be available?

Explain what you mean by "detach an attachment"? In all versions of Outlook
you can simply drag an attachment from a message to a Windows folder.
That's my definition of "detaching".

No, that's called "copying". You are simply copying the attachment to a
folder. By definition, detaching is to remove the attachment from the email
completely. The obvious advantage here is that your PST file will not have
to keep attachments to messages that can be quite large and are normally
copied to a folder anyway. I use the detach functionality in Mozilla
Thunderbird quite often, and from what I've heard, most other email clients
have this functionality also.

I can't find the thread now, but a while back, I remember a thread in here
that said the detach function would be available natively in Outlook at some
point in the future. I thought it had said this would be in Outlook 2007.
Currently, there are a couple of 3rd party add-ons that accomplish this, but
given the simplicity of it, I had hoped Microsoft would have implemented this
natively in Outlook by now.

I don't think OL 2007 works any differently that OL 2003 in that regard.
