desktop

the icons on my desktop have a white square around it,
instead of being transparent and blending into the
background. i think i may be missing a system file that
corresponds to it, but i'm not sure which. can anyone
please help fix the problem? thanks!

Hi Tina,

Start/Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings/ Visual
Effects/"Use drop shadows for icon labels on the Desktop"

Also:

Right click the desktop and select Arrange Icons by. Towards the bottom of
that list, uncheck "Lock web items on the desktop."
