Desktop with colored boxes surrounding font

I am using the Windows XP default setting on my computer but now I see the
font below the icons are no longer a 3-D appearance rather it now has a
color background behind each font, how can I get back to the original
appearance? Bob

make sure "use drop shadows for icon labels" is checked.
