Desktop Window Manager

The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention. The
Desktop Window Manager responsiveness has degraded.

How do I increase the Desktop Window Manager responsiveness? Change
settings? Add more memory? What?

I've got a Dual Core 2.80 gigahertz Intel Pentium D with 1024 MB running
Vista Home Premium.
