Desktop toolbars problem

N

Nick Mirro

After messing with NVidia's NView utility, the xp desktop toolbars are not
working

I usually use autohide toolbars along the top and 2 sides. Following the
using NView, I cannot regain the 2 toolbars that were on the left. If I
re-add them as "new" toolbars, they cannot be auto-hidden because "An
autohide toolbar is already on that side" error. (the old missing ones?)

Of course there is nothing visible there. Periodically, when alt-tabbing,
one of the old toolbars will appear undocked in the middle of the screen
with clickable links, but it will be unmovable. It then disappears if I
click anything else.

Is there anyway to repair this?

Sounds like you've hit on an odd problem as you've posted this a few times
and have not received many answers. I don't have an answer either but some
suggestions:

- When a toolbar appears anywhere, close it. When it reappears it should go
onto the taskbar first.

- Or with undocked toolbars present, try right clicking on the taskbar and
selecting "Cascade windows." Then close the This usually forces Windows to
"forget" any saved positions. Or use the Move option to see if it responds
at all.

- Does NView offer the saving of virtual/customized desktops? Is it
possible that you have one saved with the toolbars in it? Delete the saved
desktop and create a new one.
