I received a nasty virus that changed my desktop theme. I downloaded the
Nod32 virus protector and started cleaning my system out. I still can not
change my desktop theme. Did the virus rename or erase the files? Please help.

If you could post the name of the virus, or use it's name in a search
at http://www.viruslist.com it should be able to tell you more
information. I'm not familiar with Viruslist, but if it doesn't contain
cleaning options I'm sure Symantec's website will.

Visit: http:www.symantec.com
and use the search feature on the right hand side.

Since you haven't given any details about what obstacles you've
encountered when you try to change themes the best I can
provide is the following:

Start here:

Themes (Won't Load or only Windows Classic is listed)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_t.htm#themes

Line 187 from this page:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Also, make sure that the Themes service is running. Go to
Start -> Run and enter services.msc in the Open box. Click OK.
Scroll down to Themes. Make sure it's startup type is set to
Automatic and it is started.

Good luck
