Desktop shutdown shortcut

I am on Kim Komando mailing list and I got this off of
her 'cool tips' the other day. The desktop shutdown short
cut for XP is >> SHUTDOWN -s -t 01 <<
This is what you put in the comand line when you create
the short cut. Take note that there is a 'space' before
the -s and -t and 01 , and that is 'zero' 1. The short
cut does work, but I was wondering if anyone knew if it
was safe to use? I just recently got XP, I had Win98
before and had a desktop shutdown shortcut which I found
on RBLevin's BBS and it worked fine. Thanx Carroll

It's safe, Carroll,

The last two digits can vary a little, using 00, 01, 10,

Try them on the Start, Run line to see how they work.

You can also use a similar line to Restart:

Shutdown -r -t -00

.
Thanx for the info. Another question, now, concering the
(Shutdown -r -t -00) for restart. I know that if you hold
the shift key when you click the regular restart button
you get a quicker restart cause you are only restarting
Windows and not a complete reboot. Does that hold true w/
the 'desktop' restart shortcut?

Forgot to add, drag your Shutdown Icons onto the Quickstart taskbar so they
will be available any time you need them.
