I have several shortcuts on my desktop that I have assigned keyboard
shortcuts to. Some are to programs, most are to folder locations.
At first its was intermitant. But now there is a good 2-3 second delay
before the target is opened. I have s ound associated with program starts,
so I know the delay is not in program initialization, and there would be a
difference between the folder locations and the programs.

I have XP Professional on a ThinkPad.

It sounds to me like your thinkpad could use some cleanup. Try defragment
your drive(s) to begin with and see if it helps.

To defragment a drive do this: Open Explorer, Right-click your C-drive and
choose Properties (the downmost option in the context menu), choose the Tools
tab and click the defragment button.

If this dosen't help you you should look into other ways to improve your
computer's performance.

Let me be more clear.
My thinkpad performance ROCKS!
clicking on the shortcut gets me INSTANT response.
It is only when I use the keyboard shortcut.

I defragmented as you suggested even though I was doubtful.
It did not help.

I think this is a bug.

How can I report it?
