Just upgraded a friend's computer Win98 to XP (with SP2 and other Windows
updates) BUT when we right click on the desktop the timer shows up, we lose
the active desktop, or Dr Watson appears and wants to send a report to MS.
The report it wants to send means nothing to us :-( We then have to reboot
the computer to get a clean start again.
Where to from here?
Thanks

You may want to begin here.

Solved the problem.......reformatted hard drive and did a clean install of
XP.
It certainly wasn't a DIVX problem - tried working thru that one. Tried
shellviewer but that was going to be a long job :-(
But thanks for everyones input - have learned from your suggestions.

Less time than reinstalling.

Now as you add software, you are probably going to have the same problem
again.

Done the re-install (incl formatting hard drive), added programs and data
and no problem to date.

May have been an old program/software which has now been dumped?

Very well could be. Keep having fun.
