Desktop Problem/Icons etc.

I tried to put a shortcut on my desktop and I was not watching what I was
doing and when I right clicked on the item I wanted, I by mistake chose "Set
as desktop item" and now I have a copy of that web page on my desktop.
Also, the titles under my icons are in white lettering, which is okay, but
they are placed in colored boxes. How do I get the boxes to be
"transparent" so the lettering is just shown on the desktop (I use a picture
as my desktop) and how do I get rid of that web page that is now on my
desktop?

Hi,
Right-click in a blank space on the desktop, select
Properties and try the options you find under the Desktop
and Appearance tabs. HTH
