Desktop-Laptop Lack of Communication

Hi,

I have a four year old Gateway and a new, wireless Dell Inspiron laptop
working on Home XP and DSL. Both have Web access, but they can't see each
other and the laptop can't print. (The printer is plugged into the desktop.)

I have run used the wizard to setup a home network and a flash drive to
transfer the settings. This isn't rocket science, but it's not working. Any
ideas?

Mucho thanks,
George

George,

I'd start by looking at NetBT and personal firewalls on both computers.

Then I'd look at logs from "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each
computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and
follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

I bet you're right, Chuck! I forgot completely about Norton's Firewall.
Thank you, thank you.
