Desktop Intrusion

Can anyone help me with this?

A friend has a new lap-top (Hewlett Packard) running XP Home.

Every time he boots the following Notepad message is displayed on the Desktop....

[.Shellclassinfo]
LocalizedRescourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

I have tried without success to find a way to stop it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
