desktop.ini

Recently, when I first log on to XPpro using my username a window pops up
with the heading "desktop.ini notepad". The window contains the message
"[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787 "
Does anyone have any idea of what is going on ? It may have to do with a
new version of BOINC (seti@home).
Thanks in advance for your help.

Some insight may be found under the "D" category at Kelly's link, below.
Scroll down to "desktop.ini"...

Open C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Desktop
have Folder Options - View set to show Hidden files, and *not* Hide
Protected mode ones
Look for a file desktop.ini and delete it
