Desktop.ini opens on startup

All of a sudden Windows XP Pro has begun to open Desktop.ini in Notepad at
the end of the bootup process. Near the end of startup the file appears on
screen. Everything else seems to be working normally. The contents of the
file are a single line:

[.ShellClassInfo] [email protected],-21774

I know of no recent changes to the system. I have XP Pro SP1 with all
critical updates. This is a Toshiba laptop with 512 MB RAM.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Gene

Although you said you know of no recent changes to your system, have you
recently installed any Windows Updates where you might have neglected to turn
off your antivirus while installing? I had a similar, but not identical,
problem when I installed the DirectX 9.0b update.

Start | Run msconfig and see what is attempting to load desktop.ini

both) and then open the Programs and in that the Startup folders
