I had a Trojan desktop virus, am running XP Pro. I cannot change the desktop
image (a porn picture !!), all options in "display properties" are greyed
out, cannot right click an image to set as desktop (well I can but the M/c
does not recognise that I have done it). I tried to re-install from CD but
was told that clbcatq.dl_. file was missing, as well as about 50 others. I am
now also getting an error message 1706 about microsoft photo gallery.
Everything is fine in safe mode. Microsoft want to charge me £49.00 for a
phone call to Help.
Has anyone else had similar problems ? If so, can you help me please ?

What I would do is back up anything you want to keep on your PC (burn to cd
or dvd) and do a system restore to before you got the trojan.

Use this tool

AntiPuper v1.1 by secured2k
http://secured2k.home.comcast.net/tools/AntiPuper.exe

This tool unlocks the ability to change or disable the desktop background
image or active web desktop background. You will need to manually change
your desktop background.

Go to Control Panel > Display > Desktop Tab > Customize Desktop > Web Tab.
If you see any entries that are checked, uncheck them. Click OK.
