desktop ikons

my friend found lots of virus's on my windows xp pc. he gor rid of all of
them (he says) but now i have no desktop ikons also the start menu dosn't
work. i have to open it in safe mode to get the ikons ,but everytime i open
again in normal mode they dissapear again ,can anyone help me. thx in
advance
 
Hi,

Right-click the desktop, choose "arrange icons by"-->"show desktop icons".
