desktop icons

[twototango]

A colleague who was leaving played a prank on me which I didn't find out
until after they were gone. I have 2 icons of photos on my desktop that when
I click on them they don't open. I can't remove them either. How can I get
rid of them?

Add Take Ownership to right-click menu in Vista:

Can you click on them at all?

It's possible that those are just pictures that were added to your desktop
background and aren't actually real icons. =)
