Help! Only had Vista for 2 days...does anyone know why when I delete desktop
icons when logged in as one user, they disappear for all users? How do I
stop this so that each user can have different icons on the desktop?

There are a couple of different locations for the Desktop folder.

If an object is placed in the C:\Users\Public\Desktop folder, it will
appear on every users desktop. This is the new location for "All Users" that
appeared in XP.

An icon that is placed in the C:\Users\username\Desktop folder, it will
only appear on that users desktop. (Where "username" is the name of the
account)

Most installation programs will place an icon in the Public\Desktop folder
so that every user will be able to run the program. Usually an installation
program will give you a choice of installing for all users or just the
current user. If you select the current user, the program will only place
the icon on the Users\username\Desktop folder.

You can move these icons between these different folders however you wish.
