My shortcut icons on my desktop have suddenly got a blue surround. How

Hello , Try clicking : Start / Control Panel / doble click 'Display' icon
/click the 'tab' Desktop / scroll and click an item -or- click the
'Customize Desktop' button and build a colour for the background colour .
Perhaps chosing another 'Desktop Background' will fix . What is the O.S. of
pc ? XP Home , SP2 , ?

Try this:

Control Panel > System, click on the Advanced tab. In the Performance
section click the Settings button. In the list near the bottom check
"Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop."

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Checkpoints to consider:

1) Right click on desktop >> arrange icons by >> uncheck "Lock Web items on desktop"

2) Right click on My Computer >> Properties >> Advanced tab >> Settings under 'Performance' >> check
"Use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop".
