Desktop Icons

Not sure if this is the right NG but since I'm pretty sure the problem is a
registry setting I'll start here.

Somehow in my profile and my profile only, all the desktop icons have a
colored box around the text labels that is the color of the desktop. The
text boxes used to be clear so that you would not see them on the wallpaper,
just the text itself.

Does anybody know what setting controls this?

Thanks,

Hi Bob, thanks for trying to help. For what it's worth, I just realized this
is the Windows 2000 registry newsgroup and the machine I'm having the
trouble with is an XP machine.

Anyway, I got your message this morning and started looking for a way to
turn active desktop on and off, I couldn't find that but I did find a way to
add web content to the desktop (same thing I guess) and it had an option to
have a webpage for the desktop. This was checked and was pointing to a
non-existing gif image in my temp folder, I unchecked the checkbox and that
fixed the problem.

Thanks for your help,

Is it a side effect of enabling Active Desktop?

Glad it's fixed, you're welcome.
