Desktop ICONs missing

I posted and couldn't find my post again to ask another
questions. One gentleman suggested that I right mouse
click the desktop then go into desktop icons and make sure
the items I want are checked. They are all checked and
still do not show up on the desktop. I also unchecked
the "cleanup up desktop" option.

any ideas how to get the icons back.

Right click the desktop, choose properties.
Then, under the desktop tab, click the button that says customize desktop...

From thre, check the boxes for the icons you want to appear on your desktop.
This will only add those icons. Any other icons you had, you'll have to add
back yourself as I suspect they were somehow deleted.
