Desktop icons.is Outlook icon hardwired?

Using WinXP-Professional. As with most Windows, there are two "groups" of
icons on the main desktop. First has system things like MyComputer,
RecycleBin, IntExplorer, and Outlook icon on my PC. Second group has icon
shortcuts to applications like Word, Excel, Acrobat, Dialup, whatever. I
can generally easily control which icons go where in various menus (like rt
click desktop > properties. customize desktop).

Except one. I can't find anywhere how Outlook got into the system section
up there alongside RecycleBin. Obviously "install Outlook" put in there in
the beginning, but where is this controlled/changed AFTER installation, and
if I delete it, can I put it back later into the SYSTEM group again. Isn't
there an easier way than the obvious/most-work solution of an Outlook
uninstall/reinstall. Is it possible to put other icons into the SYSTEM
group also. Thanks.

Thank you. It seems like removing the icon is even easier than modifying the
registry...I think you can just select it on the desktop and hit DELETE.
But putting it back in the SAME place (in that special left-most group of
icons alongside system things like Recycle Bin and My Computer)... that
seems to be the mystery. Is there any way at all to "get into" this group
and insert icons...if so, I could just get the icon in a subfolder, go into
the desktop systems icon area and hit paste. Thanks for any insights onto
how or if this can be done.

Pressing DELETE on the icon is not the way to go here (although it works
indeed) as you can brake program functionality here.

I don't think you can edit that screen but you can always ask in a Windows
newsgroup
