Desktop Icons have Underlined Test

I have a Dell computer running Win XP with SP2. When looking at the desktop,
all of the icons have text that is underlined. How do I eliminate the
underlining? If I go to Properties/Appearance/Advanced/Item, depending upon
the item selected, I can change font, color, bold & italic, but I do not see
an option for underline. Again, where did the underline come from and how
can I eliminate it? I have not seen this on other XP machines. TX

Sounds like:
To change the number of mouse clicks required to open items

1.. Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
a.. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
b.. Double-click Folder Options.
2.. On the General tab, under Click items as follows, click the option you want.
Notes

a.. If you click Single-click to open an item (point to select), you can also specify when icon titles are underlined.
b.. To check your current browser settings for underlining links, open Internet Options in Control Panel. To open Internet Options, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, check the setting for Underline links.
