Desktop icons frequently refreshing

I'm getting tiresomely frequent refreshing of all the icons on my
desktop. Haven't yet found anything specific, but all sorts of common
operations seem to cause it. Anyone have any ideas please?

Terry,

You need to increase the Icon Cache size. Here's how to:

Click START
Click RUN
Type 'regedit' (without quotes) & click OK

Expand the '+' signs on the following key & highlight the 'Explorer' key
(left pane) when you get to it:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

In the right pane double-click 'Max Cached Icons' & change the value to
'4096' (without quotes), click OK, exit the register editor
