All of a sudden all my icons on my desktop have disappeared. I haven't
installed any software, and when I tried to send a icon to the desktop the
new icon would not appear on the desktop. I know if I reboot my computer
they will all come back up, I just would like to know how to bring them back
up incase this ever happens again. Thank you for your time and support.

Respectfully,

Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and open the Task Manager
Click on the Processes tab
Look to see if there is an "explorer.exe" running - if so right click and
end process on it.
Click File > New Task (Run) > and type in "explorer.exe" without the quotes
and press enter.

In some cases you can rid this problem by running the desktop as a separate
process.

Aaron,

It sounds like there's another problem causing explorer.exe to crash. While
it's easy to just place an explorer.exe shortcut to your quick launch bar,
click Start > Programs > Accessories, select Event Viewer and look for any
related errors that might be causing the crash.
