everytime I boot up windows xp home the recycle bin icon is on the
right bottom of screen and I have to rearrange icons to get it back to
the left side with the other 4 icons. is there a way to make it stay
in place after a reboot??

Set your icons how you want them, right-click on destop (in a space)
and tick "align to grid".
