Four things are required for transparent icon backgrounds:

1) System Properties>Advanced>Performance Settings>Visual Effects -
check
“use drop shadows for icon labelsâ€.

2) Right-click on Desktop>Arrange Icons by>Lock web items must be cleared.

3) If you have any web content on your desktop, transparency won’t work.
To check for web content: Display Properties>Desktop>Customize Desktop>Web -
make sure all check boxes are clear.

4) Wallpaper must be an image file, not html.

Rock,

Is there a post from Malke which predates this one?:

I don't know Keith, but I'm pretty sure the post I copied ( I probably
edited it slightly) was after the date of the one in your link.

All the Google searches I can think of can't fine one. It's weird to see my words attributed to
someone else. If you must credit someone, please credit me. As an alternative, I'm personally of
the opinion that the information is not that esoteric, just concisely presented -- feel free to post
it without any credit.

Ok Keith, thanks.
