I want to change the desktop icon fonts color - presently
it is white and with my background almost impossible to
see how is this achieved.

You can not change the text color. It is set for dark on
light background and light on dark.

start
-control panel
--display
---appearance tab
----[advanced] button
-----find [icon] in selection box
change font and font size to be one size bigger
also press the button to get bold font
apply and ok your way out
------------------------------
also go to the "display - themes tab" and if it has
(modified) in the theme box press the 'save as' button
and save your new theme to a name.theme file. keep
this .theme file. this file keeps fonts from reverting
back to before you changed it.

If using a light wallpaper, change "Background" in Display> Appearance to
"white" or another very light color. This will cause the font color for
desktop items to change to black.
