desktop.html Hijacker for Antivirus Gold

T

A week ago, an ad for AnticirusGold hijacked my desktop
and simultaneously planted 3 infected files. All
attempts to remove "desktop.html" and these 3 infected
files have failed. They keep coming back after reboot.

Ad-Aware, SpyBot, HouseCall, Microsoft's new beta
spyware, Registry First Aid, Norton, all fail to see and
remove this particularly ugly, malicious parasite that is
masquerading as an ad for AntivirusGold.

The AG folks won't answer an email complaint off their
web site, MS's Anti-Spyware is blocked from sending a
report home, my System Restore to a prior point is also
blocked.

From 'net chatter, it is clear I'm not alone. There are
a large number of people really upset by this really ugly
parasite. Surely somebody somewhere has come up with a
tool to find and remove all traces of this monster.

What these AG folks have done borders perilously close to
a criminal or terrorist attack.

Thoughts of others?
