Desktop goes into standby mode - how to fix?

R

Robert M. Lincoln

I recently upgraded my WinXP desktop (service pak 2) by downloading .NET
framework.

Now, and I don't know if that is what caused it, when I leave my computer
alone for a while, come back to it, I have to enter a password to get back
into my machine. I checked the settings for Power Management and I have the
machine never going into standby mode, and also never having to enter a
password when coming from standby. But that didn't fix it.

I also have been working with Windows MovieMaker (unrelated?).

How do I get my desktop machine to stop entering standby, and why did it all
of a sudden start doing this?

Thanks
