Is it possible to change the font color of files on the
desktop? They can be hard to read depending on the

I'll answer in case Mary doesn't. Font colors on desktop icons cannot be
changed to anything other than black or white. Either black or white will
display depending on the basic desktop color selected.

There are third party programs that can manage this, however. The one I use is
the On Display feature of Microangelo (http://www.microangelo.us). On Display
is also available as a stand-alone program for about $25.

My desktop icon fonts are light green!

You can have each on a little tablet of contrasting color - at Control
Panel - System - Advanced - Performance click Settings and in the Visual
effects custom pane, uncheck 'use drop shadows for icon labels.

You can then go to Display - Desktop and use the Color button lower
right to select a color that will go with your wallpaper but still
provide reasonable contrast
