I was recently infected by some adware so i ran spybot s&d and adaware (although i still have to remove the bridge.dll from the registry - but am too scared to do it at the moment). Anyway, today I installed another adware item and as soon as I rebooted my computer, it froze. I rebooted about 5 times, each time it allows me in as far as the desktop. When i move my mouse to the start menu the egg timer comes on and nothing else happens. I cant double click anything and when I go to task manager, if i try to end programme then i go back to the wallpaper only - no icons, nothing. the task manager allows me to shut down but thats about it. I would REALLY appreciate any help. Thanks. I cant even get into the computer to uninstall the software. Obviously its that which is causing the problem.

Many issues that you may experience on a Windows XP-based computer occur
because of an incompatible or corrupted program. To determine whether this
is the case, you can either perform a clean boot or restart Windows without
starting the program in question.

To do this, please see the instructions outlined in Microsoft Knowledge Base
(KB) Article 316434 at: http://support.microsoft.com/?KBID=316434
