When I boot up my computer the left side of the screen contains the Items,
Folder Tasks, Other Places, and DeskTop. How can I eliminate these items so
I have a full screen desktop. I use Windows XP

If you are trying to hide all desktop icons:

Right click a blank area on the desktop.
Hover over Arrange Icons By
Left click Show Desktop Icons
