Let me see if I understand this ... Desktop Cleanup Wizard removes Desktop
items rarely used by CREATING an Unused Desktop Shortcuts Folder ON THE
DESKTOP.

Now when does the Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder get removed when rarely
used? And is it put into a new Unused Desktop Shortcuts Folder?

And who is the genius that thought up ballon tips and why isn't their a
built in setting in the interface to turn off these things???

"Hey, I have a great idea... Let's put in pop-up messages that annoy the
users 5 or 6 times at startup and every ten minute after that. If they
don't like the messages for some strange reason we will make it nice and
easy for them to turn it off by using REGEDIT - the most dangerous tool
Windows has."

At least the realized their mistake when they released Tweak for XP.

Um, right click on your desktop and choose Properties. Then click on the
Desktop tab. See anything to untick?

I gave incomplete instructions. Right click on the
Desktop/Properties/Desktop tab/Customize Desktop.

Regarding Balloon Tips - No. Do you?

After the Desktop tab, click on Customize Desktop. See my correction to
my instructions below.

Take a look at the attached JPG file and you will see that there is no
option for Balloon Tips as you say.

I unticked "Run Desktop Wizard every 60 days" more than 60 days ago and
no balloons at all since then. YMMV.
