Desktop and 2 Profiles

Hi,

Yesterday, a Windows 2000 PC went bang so I needed to install a new PC and
decided to take the opportunity to install a new XP Pro PC.

However, no matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to get hardware profiles to
work correctly.

I have an identical W2K PC (secretary) which presents 2 hardware profiles on
bootup. Site A Profile and Site B profile. Both have different static IP
settings and domains.Works fine.

I try and create 2 seperate profiles on the XP box, again with seperate
Static IP settings for each and seperate domains....oh no....not having it.
Whatever I set for the last profile, seems to be retained when I boot up
with the altenative profile.

As this rate, I might as well Ghost the working PC and downgrade the XP Pro
to Win2K.

The machines are used in the following manner. There are no Outlook settings
or Documents to worry about, just network connectivity to seperate sites.

Fred sits down, boots up and chooses Site A. Then Ctrl-Alt-Delete, enters
username (let's pretend it is called Euser). Chooses Domain A, and he's in.

Steve sits down, boots up and chooses Site B. Then Ctrl-Alt-Delete, enters
username (also called Euser). Chooses Domain B (or possibly local Machine),
and he's in.

2 seperate sites, 2 seperate servers, and thus a hardware profile for each
site's specific network requirements (different IPs, Subnets, Gateways and
DNS).

It works fine on the W2K.....but I can't replicate it on the XP Pro box.

Am I going about it the wrong way in XP Pro, has the functionality been
stopped, or am I just having a moronic embolism ? Please, if anyone can help,
I'd much appreciate your support !

Well, you could do this with netsh logon scripts; but I don't see how
hardware profiles would do it unless you are using two network adapters.
