deskjet 810c wrong colors

My HP deskjet 810c is missing the yellow primary color even after a new
cartridge.

Checked HP's site and it tells me to contact customer support in this
particular case because printer needs servicing.

Does anyone know what needs to be serviced?

This problem is usually caused by a very old cartridge, beyond its useful
life. My bet is the printer does not need service, you have a defective
cartridge. You can verify this by running a diagnostic self test as shown at
the following:

If the test pattern does not print yellow then check the expiration date on the
cartridge as shown at the following:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printers/support_doc/bpa02014.html If the
cartridge is beyond its warranty you need a new fresh cartridge. When buying a
cartridge look for the "install by" date on the cartridge package. I would
look for a cartridge with at least six months remaining before the "install by"
date. If the cartridge is within its warranty period then contact your dealer
or HP for a replacement.
