deskcp16.dll

When I start up XP I get a warning message that deskcp16.dll or one of its
components is missing or unaccessable. Typically I punch "ok" and go about
my business. I have no idea if this is a problem and it is a bit irritating,
so would like to fix whatever problem is causing the warning. How to do??

Not a native file for Windows XP. It is present in older versions of
Windows though.

Have to wonder why a non-XP file is being called for at startup on your
system. Has QuickRes (designed for earlier versions of Windows) ever been
installed on this system? If yes, it's a leftover from the tray icon for
that power toy.

Check in MSCONFIG for a startup reference to the file. The registry path
containing the reference will be listed. If you're confident enough to edit
the registry, you could delete the reference by following the path and
deleting that startup item.
