desk top flop!

I have on my desk top a folder side panel like the type you
have when you open control panel. I know this is something
I've done but I want to get rid of it. I don't know what I
did to get it there. Any help would be appreciated.

This might also be a Tool Bar that is parked along the side of your DeskTop.
Right-Click the tool bar and select "Toolbars".
Uncheck anything that has a check mark (Except for the "Quick Launch"
Toolbar).
