I am planning to build a PC, I may wait until March as Chris suggested due the price drop which takes place. The PC will be going to Uni with me next September, i have saved money to pay for it but have not yet decided on a budget for it. I was going to set my budget as £1000, but since it is my first PC(other than the family one which i cant salvage) I will have to buy everything to go with the PC so I decided that i could go abit higher if i thought it was worth it.

The main uses will be gaming, word processing and surfing the internet.
Possible specs:
AMD 3500+ skt 939 £184.99
Asus AV8 £83.54
GeIL 1GB CAS2.5 Value £99.82

TFT Samsung 710T £299 OR
CRT Iiyama 454 pro £229
CRT has better picture, but space will be limited and reviews for the Samsung are good, THG recormmended.

9800 pro £124.98 OR
Leadtek 6800GT £275 OR
Leadtek 6600GT £144
Would love a 6800GT but i dont know if my wallet agrees with me, are they worth the extra cash?

Tagan 480W £58.69

Lian Li PC61 £81.29

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 160GB 16mb (OEM) £58.69
NEC ND-3500 Double Layer Dual 16x DVD R/RW - OEM Black £40.27

Min Total= £961.27 Max Total= £1178.29

I appriciate and feedback or suggestions you can give me :)
