Hello, All
Can someone please give me the location of where to find a simple
description of the various XP folder permissions, & how they differ
from one another? When I right-click on a folder>Sharing and
Security>Security, I see a window with the group & user names listed,
and below that is a field w/ 7 different permissions frm which to
choose. My question is: In MSoft's view, how does "Modify" differ frm
"Read and Execute"? If a user has permission to "Write" to a folder,
don't they automatically have permission to Modify it? And what exactly
does MS mean by "Special" permissions?
I've spent a good 30 minutes linking around in the MS-KB, and reading
thru the links brought up when you enter "user permissions" into Help &
Support, and I have not been able to find any plainly-stated resource
to describe what is meant by those 7 different classes of permissions
and how they differ from each other.
Thanks much for your time & energy [:-))

Try starting here
(http://www.microsoft.com/resources/.../2003/standard/proddocs/en-us/acl_topnode.asp)
