When does a dynamic client(ie win2k) deregister its
records with the dns server? Is it just on shutdown?

Hi Michael,

it does not deregister it, the dns aging and scavenging process takes care of
removing unused records after they haven't been reregistered for a while.

Yes, it does (if configured to do so). IPCONFIG /RELEASE will even do this
explicitly.
