There never was a computer programmer shortage, and now with hundreds of
thousands of Americans out of work, this damm government is allowing more
H1B's to come in and take jobs that Americans need and deserve.

Call your sentator, congressman and Demand that this program end
immediately. Your livlihood is at stake.

Also demand outsourcing of American jobs. From today's New York Times OP ED
page, Senator Charles Schumer "Over the next 3 years , a major New York
securities firm plans to replace its team of 800 American software
enginerss..with and equally competent team in India.." And whatever jobs
that are left here will probably given to H1B Indians.

What kind of men and women are we in this country. Too cowardly to fight for
our lives

Mmmmm not really going to touch this racist jaunt...

However, you need to do your research.

First of all, Senators and Congressmen are useless... I'm suprised you don't
know this yet.

Second, I wouldn't blame it all on H1B's... I've met a lot of bad
programmers from ALL ethniticities.. INCLUDING Americans. Face it, a lot
of people said "Ohhh, I hear they are doing wonderful things with computers
these days, I can say a few big words and sound important, take peoples
money and not perform."

This is why we don't have jobs. Are you familar with the dotcom crash of
2001? Are you aware of the amount of no talent ass clowns (some which sound
an aweful lot like you) that keep opening companies because some half wit
economist says "It's a good idea to start your own business now, it drives
prices down bringing consumer demand up."

Morons... You have to be good at what you do. Small companies have
absolutly no stablility anymore, why? Because people think that running your
own company is all vacations and easy money. Then they find out its not
that easy, running a compnay is work, but too late, you've run up your
credit cards, have no real product and now classify yourself as a
"consultant" charging way too much money for something you know nothing
about.

And then, the other shoe drops, your comnpany goes out of business and you
accumulate a little more debt, file bankruptcy and screw up interest rates a
little bit more...

So before you start blaming Indians (no, I'm not one, I'm about as Arian as
they come) or any other group, maybe you should look into understanding the
US Economy a little bit better before you make judgements.

And as for offshore Indian software houses, are they a threat? Yeah they
are, but if you've ever worked with one you'll know that language barriers
are sometimes a major problem with a lot of them (there are some really good
ones). Or, they are just as bad as american software houses.

So in conclusion.

Shut up your racist fu*k

having a nic fit, and this guy just pissed me off. I'm so sick of everyone
claiming to be an expert on issues they know nothing about...

It sucks. =)

I quit cold turkey from a pack a day. It hasn't been a pleasant road. Not
only that, but I've driven like 2500 miles in 2 weeks (my all time favorite
time to have a cigarette besides post-coital bliss or a good meal) so its
been really rough. But a lot of self restraint.

I'm not saying I'll never have a cigarette again, I'm sure I'll go out
drinking one night and be like "why not?" but at least I won't be blowing
30+ bux a week on it. =)

The thing is, you gotta be ready to quit, if you ever are ya know? If you
dont want to, don't do it, and don't do it because someone else wants you
to. Gotta just do it cause you want to.

I'm not judgemental like the other reformed ones like "Oh you should quit!
Oh its so easy! I don't know what the big deal is..." I have a hard time
believing those people..
=)

Good luck with it if/when you do =)

True. They will not take your jobs if your as good as or better. For a
company to bring in an H1B, the costs are higher than those of hiring
a local. Relocation costs will be considerably higher to bring
somebody from India than it would be to bring someone from Utah to
California.

Cost of interviews are also higher and cumbersome, as the candidate
would somehow have to travel for the interview, which rules out many
without an B1/B2 visa or a visa waiver to come in an interview.
Companies are also more reluctant to hire foreign talent without
knowing them than doing the same with a local.

A company cannot pay an H1B bearer less than the minimum prevailing
wage for the position and experience of the employee. So companies
will not feel compelled to bring in cheap labor, because they just
cannot.

H1Bs is a temporary visa (max 3 years + 3 years) which in today's
corporate America is probably longer than anyone stays on a job. So
he/she might be "let go" even before the maximum stay expires.

I don't think there's anything to worry about. To me, it seems that
personal capacities and not nationalities, are the ones that are to be
measured one to one.

In the unlikely event that you're not just trolling,

Perhaps you should focus on your written communication skills, namely basic
grammar and spelling.
Improving your skills in those areas would likely make you more valuable to
potential employers.
Otherwise you will likely continue to confuse others and embarrass yourself
(you didn't really intend to demand that American jobs be outsourced, did
you?).

I know plenty of "for'ners" who could serve as your
proofreader/spellchecker.

regards,
one cowardly US Citizen who doesn't demand that "sentators" protect me from
competition

Wrong on many points Pepi.

This is how the H1 B phenomena works. A "consulting" company such as Wipro
or Infosys approaches an American company, gets a contract whereby the
entire IT function or certain jobs are outsourced to them. Wipro and Infosys
bring in the H1B, or more correctly, already have them here on standby and
put them on the job.

Prevailing wage? What does that mean. They get paid significantly less than
what Americans earn, the justice department's own website will back that up,
additionally, the H1B is wedded to the job. Essentially, the employer
controls him here.

Fact is, Americans are getting displaced in their own land by foreigners and
the American government is abetting this.
