Deployment of full version WXPP

I am setting up a new computer and will have XP Pro (WXPP)
to install. I am now running ME and it is completely
updated. I think that a clean install may be the best way
but I have a lot of ME compatible programs on my old hard
drive that I would like to migrate to WXPP without
reinstalling. I am thinking that if I image my old drive
over to the new drive, which would give me a baseline of
ME on the new drive, could I install the WXPP over the ME
installation as an update. I know that one of the articles
indicate upgrade compatibility but it is not clear to me
that a full version would want to install over the
existing ME OS. Appreciate your thoughts on this subject.
Waiting for UPS to deliver the system in the next few

It would work, given that you know how and have the correct tools to image
the current drive to the new one and you ensure that everything is
up-to-date and compatable before performing the actual upgrade.

Thanks for the response Stanley. I have the shipment with

XPP, drive, cd-rom etc. so will move out on it next hour
or so. Just trying to finalyse my install strategy now.
After thinking and reading more about a clean install I
think that is my approach.
