Deploying MS Office 2000

Hi.

I am new to this.

I am trying to deploy MS Office 2000 to workstation in a
test environment through the use of GPOs.

I have setup an SDP server, created a GPO and tried to
attached the data1.msi to the software installation node
in the Computer Software settings.

However, I get the following message.

'Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment
information from the package. Run validation on the
package to ensure the package is correct.'

Any idea how to get past this problem? Any help would be
great.

Thanks
Trevor

All files have been copied to the SDP Server.

Did you copy the hidden cab file on the MS Office CD to your SDP server?

Try adding the MSI to the GPO from a computer that does
not have MS Office installed. I ran into the same problem
and found this article "You Cannot Add an .msi Package to
a Group Policy Object (324886)". The suggested workaround
is to move to a workstation that does not have the MSI
installed, which worked for me.
