demotion and promotion

I have a server that was the PDC for a test domain.
It was demoted to a member server,it's name changed and
then joined to another domain.

I am trying to promote this server back up to a BDC in the
new domain and it will not work.

Can a Windows 2000 server be demoted in one domain, renamed
and promoted again to a BDC or PDC in another?

This new test Domain has just these two servers in it. I
have added DNS and made the type active directory enabled
yet I do not believe it is working properly.

I have enabled dynamic updates on the dns as well.

I still get Netlogon failed because no DNS found.

I think these things are related. ANy Suggestions?
